there are plenty of image in search... but just like deirdre said.. all have owner and u must get permissions from them to use. devian art is a choice, then we also got photobucket, some are from wordpress and many more... how about u just snap a pic of a dark night by urself. then put in ur pc and just use paintbucket to edit it a little and upload it. it more easy.

i am quite able to create a book cover design for you. I am the owner and lead designer of Falconvale Designs. I have over 15 years experience in working with adobe software and i am confident that i can produce the perfect cover for your Ebook project without breaking the bank so to speak. My whole business is centered around being able to provide the community with quality designs for their projects without charging outrageous prices and allowing them to save on their bottom line of overhead and expenditures, and allowing them to use that savings to open the door to larger income potential. while never compromising on the quality of the product. If you would like to speak with me feel free to e-mail me at any time through my website: http://ravenmaclean.wix.com/falconvale-designs#!contact/c11m6 there is a contact us form there if you would like to send me a direct e-mail, or also a little ping box for you to IM me directly if you would like a more immediate response, plus you can find my business phone there as well if you would prefer to talk over the phone instead. I have many different contact options available to you there for support. I would suggest taking a look over our services page as well, so you can see some of the other services my company can provide you. I hope to hear from you soon, and look forward to potentially doing business with you in the future.

Have you tried deviant art for resources. It's an amazing place for all sorts of images, you may need to contact the artist if you want to use anything but I don't think that would be much of a problem.

There are several stock photo houses these days that are very reasonably priced. For an image roughly the size of a cover it can cost as little as $15 - $30 depending on which site you use. There's BigStock, iStock, dreamstime, shutterstock and a few others that are not coming to mind at the moment. All you have to do is use their search features to find what you are looking for.

The trick is finding the exact image that captures your entire book at a glance..., then choosing the right font to enhance the look and feel. Much like choosing the most perfect title that will say enough, but not too much, to compel your reader to OPEN your book, your cover should do the same. Sometimes you might need to combine images to get just the right thing. Word of caution though, don't try to put too many concepts on the cover or you message will get lost in the minutia.

If there's anything I can help with, feel free to contact me.

    Kindly,
    Tamian

You can search this Flickr group for free images: http://www.flickr.com/groups/freeuse/

The problem is finding an image that fits your story. I started a group called, 'Cover Design Help Desk' and invited graphic designers to join to talk to our authors about their covers. We have two right now. They are willing to discuss your cover with you.

Nick and Tamian, join and talk to them. See what suggestions they might have for you. It might make things easier in the long run. Your cover image is very important.
